Skyhawks Announces New Partnership with STEM Sports®!

February 6th, 2019

Skyhawks is excited to announce a new partnership with STEM Sports

Skyhawks is excited to announce that we have partnered with STEM Sports® to launch Skyhawks STEM Sports® programs this year starting with soccer, basketball, flag football, volleyball, and multi-sport! STEM Sports® programs are rooted in Next Generation Science Standards and Common Core State Standards that combine science, technology, engineering and math into sports.

STEM Sports® curriculum will be introduced into Skyhawks’ programs via two new formats: STEM Sports® and STEM & Play. Each format will utilize the STEM Sports® curriculum, but STEM & Play will pair it with traditional Skyhawks’ program activities and instruction. Both formats will be available for basketball, flag football, multi-sport, soccer, and volleyball programs this summer in select regions across North America.

STEM Sports® Basketball programs educate kids on various topics including shoe design, velocity, acceleration, tracking with technology and more.

STEM Sports® Football educates students on glove and helmet tech, in-game communication, throwing arm strength, football properties and other hot topics.

STEM Sports® Soccer gives students the opportunity to get behind the sport they love with modules on soccer ball design, throw-in science, angles and goal-line technology.

Developed by USA Volleyball, STEM Sports® Volleyball programs include lessons on the science behind serving, calculating contact time and other STEM topics.

Skyhawks will also integrate STEM-based activities into multi-sport in order to give participants opportunities to learn the science, technology, engineering and math of more than one sport in a single program.

In Entrepreneur’s 40th annual Franchise 500®, the publication’s highly regarded and competitive list of the top 500 franchises, Skyhawks is excited to announce that Skyhawks Franchise Group has been placed #177 on the list. This news is very meaningful since Skyhawks’ ranking improved by an outstanding 107 places since last year’s ranking.

The Franchise 500® has been considered the top worldwide franchise ranking with over 1,000 franchise companies vying for a spot on the list. Rankings are based on costs and fees, growth rate, financial strength and stability, corporate support, and brand strength. Each franchise is given a cumulative score based on an analysis of more than 150 data points, and the 500 franchises with the highest cumulative scores become the Franchise 500® in ranking order.

“For the second straight year, we are thrilled to make Entrepreneur’s Franchise 500® as one of the best children’s fitness franchises in the world. I’m proud to be a part of an organization which makes a difference in the community through teaching life skills through sports to children and young adults,” says Jason Frazier, President of Skyhawks.

Skyhawks Franchise Group is stronger than it has ever been. In 2018, Skyhawks launched the first international SuperTots franchise in Suzhou, China, which received great feedback from Chinese audiences. In addition, the creation of 27 new domestic territories and increased revenue over the previous five quarters helped to drive one of the largest increases in Entrepreneur’s rankings this year.

Yearly Highlights

- 27 new territories opened in 2018
- Top overall earner generated $1.47 million
- Top rookie earner generated $348,000
- First international master franchise launched in China

Over its 40 years in existence, the Franchise 500® has become both a dominant competitive measure for franchisors and a primary research tool for potential franchisees. Skyhawks Franchise Group’s position on the ranking is a testament to its strength as a franchise opportunity.

With a low initial investment, Skyhawks franchisees see a quick return on their investment while enjoying a flexible work life and receiving exceptional support from the Skyhawks team, which are just a few perks of becoming a member of the Skyhawks family.

Skyhawks + Positive Coaching Alliance

November 28th, 2018

PCA-LogoCoaches are the beating heart of all Skyhawks programs, and we’re excited to announce a new collaboration to take our staff training to the next level. Starting in 2019, Skyhawks Sports Academy will be partnering with Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) to enhance Skyhawks staff training. Coaches and directors will complete PCA’s Double-Goal Coach® training, tools, and ongoing support to bolster Skyhawks’ existing two-day training that all programs staff currently complete. The Double-Goal Coach® program develops coaches who strive to win while also pursuing the more important goal of teaching life lessons through sports

All Skyhawks coaches and directors complete a thorough two-day training program prior to becoming a certified Skyhawks coach. 100% of Skyhawks’ program staff are first-aid and CPR certified, and now Positive Coaching Alliance Double-Goal Coach® certified prior to the start of programs.

Founded in 1998, PCA has conducted more than 20,000 workshops for more than 3,500 schools and youth sports organizations, affecting more than 4.5 million youth and high school athletes. PCA is guided by an advisory board that’s a who’s who of sports legends, including 11-time NBA Champion Coach Phil Jackson, World Cup winner and Olympic gold medalist Brandi Chastain, and Green Bay Packers President & CEO Mark Murphy, among others.

About Positive Coaching Alliance:

Positive Coaching Alliance develops BETTER ATHLETES, BETTER PEOPLE through resources for youth and high school sports coaches, parents, administrators and student-athletes. In addition to more than 1,800 free multimedia tips and tools at www.PCADevZone.org, PCA has partnered with roughly 3,500 schools and youth sports organizations nationwide to deliver more than 20,000 live group workshops, along with online courses and books by PCA Founder Jim Thompson that help those involved in youth and high school sports create a positive, character-building youth sports culture.

Child Safety & Protection Month

November 1st, 2018

Cheer Coach walking through gate with camper

Before you sent your child off Trick or Treating on Halloween, did you have a conversation with them about safety? Perhaps you went through their candy to make sure nothing was tampered with (and to sneak a few pieces for yourself) or maybe you went with them to make sure they were safe under your supervision. The safety of our children is a constant voice in the back of every parent or guardian’s mind. In honor of Child Safety and Protection Month this November, Skyhawks is excited to share a few of our safety policies with you.

Here are a few of the preventative measures we take to keep your children safe at our programs:

1.    The Skyhawks Gate System

At each Skyhawks program, our coaches start and end with our safety process which we call the “Gate System." Every morning before camp, our coaches greet parents and campers in the parking lot as children are dropped off. Coaches guide the kids on to the court or field by funneling them through one of our entry gates. Once the child is through the gate, the coach maintains eye contact with them until they are safe with the rest of the group and the other coach playing a warm-up game. This process is completed in reverse at the end of the day so the coaches can make sure that every child goes home safely with the appropriate parent or guardian.

2.    Safe Bathroom Breaks

Another policy for Skyhawks programs is to make sure the restrooms are completely empty before allowing children to enter. While the kids are inside, their coach guards the doorway to ensure that no one else enters while the children are using the facilities.

3.    Snack Time Precautions

Here at Skyhawks, we are no strangers to food allergies. We ask parents to let us know ahead of time if their child has any food allergies. However, we know sometimes parents can forget or the information can be delayed, so to make sure we do not have any incidents we have a strict no sharing rule during snack time. We also ask that parents of children with allergies send their camper with Wet Ones antibacterial wipes since they have been scientifically tested to remove food allergens from hands after eating.

4.    Exceptional Staff

Becoming a Skyhawks Coach or Director is an extensive and highly competitive process. If they meet the minimum requirements, interested prospects fill out an application and attend several interviews. Once hired, we take our employees through a rigorous training program to ensure that your children are in the best hands possible.
