Dear Educator,
The purpose of HAWK is to teach children how to live
healthy and active lives that include regular exercise, relationship building, eating
right and creativity. The lessons will be used as part of developing personal growth
and a sense of well-being. The week
is broken down into five days of specific life skills:
Monday
Nutrition – “Eat Right!”
·
Healthy eating that
focuses on food as fuel!
Tuesday
Physically Active
– “Play!”
·
Get out and play
games or sports that you like!
Wednesday
Team Building
– “Go Team!”
·
Play together and
be the founder of the newest game!
Thursday
Healthy Mind – “Stay Positive!”
·
Respect those around
you and include everyone!
Friday
Make It A Lifestyle – “Practice It!”
·
Put it into practice
– do what you have planned!
By utilizing these different life skills children are
able to learn fun and exciting ways to grow.
Each day the children will be encouraged to research the topic they are working
on. This program is progressive. At the end of the week – the children are encouraged
to act on the things they learned by play.
Each day includes a lesson plan for teachers to build
on. Teachers are encouraged to use
the curriculum as a foundation for teaching these life skills in their classroom.
The material can be used to supplement a Health/Physical Education lesson.
Sincerely,
“To teach children and young adults life skills through
athletics.”
